Alone again

Ze Maria went back to work today and I have only 3 more weeks of maternity leave. Manel is 3,5 months old. Can you believe it? People always tell you time goes by much faster with your second and subsequent children, but this is just ridiculous!

Meanwhile, I've stopped breastfeeding. I started to have some intestinal troubles and decided to quit cold turkey so I could start my meds. This was NOT a good idea. It's been a week and I am still in so much pain. With R I weaned her gradually and I never had any problems. I will never ever quit cold turkey again.

Manel is doing great. He is now sleeping through the night from 9.30 pm to 8.30 am. I try waking him up before I go to bed and give him a bottle but he drinks practically nothing so I guess I'll just stop trying. R took over a year to drop that last bottle so it's still hard for me to believe Manel is ready to.
Here is a picture of him we took for his Identity Card (which we need to travel).

Long over-due update

I'm sorry I haven't been posting much lately. Having Zé Maria home is great, but also terribly demanding because he just cannot keep still for more than a few minutes. We've been going to the movies, going out shopping, etc.
He's doing great and he'll be back to work on Monday, so I'll probably be able to be online more often next week, and maybe post some more recent pictures of the kids.
My BIL is also doing great. He says he didn't realize how tired he was before the surgery and is feeling so much better already. That's exactly what we wanted to hear!

So that's it for now. I promise to post more often once Zé Maria goes back to work and even more often once I go back to work, which will be on the 20th of February.

He's home!

Zé Maria came home last night. We were hoping he could come home on Sunday but he recovered so well they let him come yesterday!
He is doing great, he's in practically no pain and he really wasn't doing anything at the hospital. My SIL will stay over for a few more days so that he doesn't need to help me with the kids, but at least he's here.

My BIL is also doing great. He is no longer in the ICU and we can now visit himfor a few minutes. He's still peeing and his numbers are almost normal. So far, we couldn't have asked for things to be better. He's not out of woods yet, and we're not even sure when he will be, if ever. But for now, we're very happy.

More updates soon.

Surgery Update

The surgery went very well. We expected my BIL to start urinating during the first week but he peed right there in the OR, while they were stitching him up. This is very good news!!

Zé Maria is doing good. I got to see him today and he has an epidural which will stay on until tomorrow. So is not in pain, thank God. They'll start weaning him off the pain meds in a couple of days and we hope he can be home by Sunday.

Thanks everyone for thinking of us!

Countdown

Happy New Year Everyone!!!
Our New Year's Eve was great, we had lots of fun and 2006 has been very good so far.
I've been helping my SIL plan her wedding. Yesterday we spent the day trying out wedding dresses, we've also been looking at places for the reception and stuff like that. It's been fun.

Manel is doing great, he's sleeping through the night (can you believe it!) and is still exclusively breastfed. We have a ped appointment tomorrow with both kids and I'll update then.

The surgery will be next wednesday and the countdown has began. We're getting kinda nervous, especially Zé Maria, but I'm sure it will be ok. Please think of us during this time and I'll try to update when I can.
